Academic Profile
The processes shaping life on earth, and especially in the ocean, have always fascinated me. These interests led me to pursue a BSc in Biological Sciences at Utrecht University, with a specialization in Marine and Oceanographic Sciences. As part of my undergraduate degree, I spent a semester abroad at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where I had the opportunity to work on marine and coastal conservation challenges.
After my BSc I completed a MSc in Biodiversity, Conservation and Management at Oxford University, where I studied the potential of new technologies in Environmental Research. My dissertation looked at the potential of 3D photogrammetry as a scientific tool for coral reef research.
After these degrees I spent a year working in the sustainable energy industry as R&D project manager at a SME developing essential components to realize a hydrogen energy infrastructure.
