Eleanor Ainscoe
Academic Profile
I have BA and MSci degrees in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge. After a grounding in Maths, Materials Science, Earth Sciences and Chemistry I specialised in Geological Sciences. My masters project title was "The Geometry of Active Normal Faulting in the Aegean". My D.Phil project researched the active faulting and tectonics of Central Asia. The region is a major component of the India-Eurasia collision and also has a history of damaging earthquakes. My work combined fieldwork and remote sensing techniques including using optical imagery, digital elevation models and interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) to look at how past earthquakes have influenced the landscape around them. I got my doctorate from Oxford in 2018.
